About the Opportunity

WCP's Ottawa office is currently looking for a Senior Associate to join our team, assisting primarily with the management and execution of Mergers & Acquisitions and Capital services. We are looking for someone curious and analytical to do market research, valuations, and financial modelling, putting together presentations and proposals for clients of WCP. Our Senior Associate will work collaboratively with people both inside and outside of the firm to support and manage deal flow. This position will initially require the successful candidate to work on-site for initial training but will allow for a hybrid work option once settled into the role.

Duties and Responsibilities

Corporate Strategy

• Executes Welch Capital Partner's strategy
• Adheres to the operational/business plans and KPI's
• Provides input to the tactical plans to achieve the strategic objectives

Mergers & Acquisitions/Capital

• Assists in managing deal flow
• Analyzes client financial statements and relevant documentation
• Builds financial models and confidential information memorandums
• Identifies, analyzes, and ranks potential buyers
• Co-ordinates with clients during the due diligence process
• Assists with or prepares financial models to support the purchase/sale price for prospects
• Prepares management presentations, marketing pitches and other presentations as required
• Conducts industry and economic research
• Performs high-level valuations of companies and commentary
• Manages projects leveraging Asana

Business Development/Marketing

• Actively contributes to business development and marketing activities to generate new business across all business lines
• Builds brand recognition by the dissemination of WCP's thought leadership (blogs, articles, presentations, etc.)
• Works collaboratively with team members and develops/maintains relationships with others, both inside and outside the firm
• Attends various meetings with the WCP team, as well as meetings with clients
• Continues to expand network with business owners and key service providers including lawyers, bankers, and financial advisors to support business development activities and deal flow.
• Prepares and delivers proposals to corporate clients

Administrative

• Tracks all engagements and client information in Navatar

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in a professional services role (investment banking, private equity, banking, venture capital, consulting, legal or accounting)
• MBA or other Master's degree; or relevant professional designation (CPA, CFA, MBA, CBV, JD)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Expert knowledge in the following areas:
  • Valuation concepts
  • Economics
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Financial modelling
• Willingness to take ownership of tasks
• Ability to work collaboratively or independently as needed in a demanding, fast paced, and dynamic work environment.
• Able to effectively conduct and present research
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles
• Determination, creative thinking, resilience and goal-oriented
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional critical thinking, analytical, time management and organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to effectively manage multiple assignments
• Proficient in MS Office Suites, Google applications and other industry related software and applications.
