ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, NURSING (Tenure Track)

The School of Nursing at Cape Breton University (CBU) invites applications for five tenure‑track assistant‑professor positions in nursing, commencing August 1, 2026 (or soon thereafter). CBU is a young, community‑driven university located on Cape Breton Island, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people.
These positions are part of CBU’s commitment to health and community development across Nova Scotia, supported by strong ties with the Eastern Zone of Nova Scotia Health.
Responsibilities
- Teach a concept‑based curriculum in nursing, including theory‑based classroom instruction.
- Develop and lead research and scholarly activities that advance nursing knowledge.
- Participate in nursing practice with student groups in various settings, including simulation and labs.
- Contribute to service within CBU, the wider community, and the nursing profession.
Qualifications
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in nursing (e.g., BScN, MN).
- A completed PhD or other doctoral degree in a health‑related field (preferred), or an education doctorate; Master’s holders willing to pursue a doctoral degree will be considered.
- Minimum five years’ experience as a registered nurse.
- An active, unrestricted RN licence with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (or eligibility to obtain one prior to commencement).
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and student mentorship.
- A commitment to nursing scholarship and research.
- Experience in theory‑based classroom teaching.
