Nutrition Program Summer Student

JOB PURPOSES:
The Nutrition Program Summer Student is role funded by Canada Summer Jobs, which aims to provide quality employment experiences for students aged 15-30. This role will support all aspects of the Nutrition Program and may include duties such as planning and delivery of community cooking classes, assisting with food preparation in the SFBLC kitchen, research, administrative support, and supporting with other tasks as needed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Planning and delivering community cooking classes for diverse groups of participants, including individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, children and youth, Indigenous groups, and Newcomers to Canada.    
* Assisting with cooking and recipe testing in the SFBLC community kitchen.
* Conducting research in the areas of food security and culturally relevant food.
*Providing support with administrative tasks such as compiling program evaluation data, helping to develop internal and external program documents and promotional materials, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience in nutrition, cooking, food service management, health promotion, public health, social program delivery, or other related disciplines.
* Experience working in the community sector with diverse groups, including vulnerable populations
* A class 5 drivers license and access to a car that can occasionally be used for work would be an asset

CSJ ELIGIBILITY:
* Be 15-30 years old at the start of employment
* Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
HOURS:
Monday to Friday, approx. 9am  4pm (May occasionally include evening and weekend shifts)
TERM: Summer contract, 30-35 hours weekly
