This position will also be responsible to provide support to professionals, perform quality assurance and quality control functions related to departmental projects and functions.Key AccountabilitiesInspect, install, remove, troubleshoot and maintain SaskPower facilities, equipment, systems and devicesWork with electric/electronic controls/equipmentDevelop and interpret plans, designs, specifications and drawingsUse approved test equipmentProvide first level support for journeypersons and technicians as required by the positionCollect, prepare, analyze and diagnose data and take corrective action, as requiredHandle the receipt of assignments and confer with technical staff on aspects regarding charts, data, diagrams, drawings, general arrangements, graphs, layouts, schematics, sketches, etc.Conduct field surveys, inspections or investigations to provide data for projectsInspect and test materials, equipment and systemsArrange for appropriate permits, as required by the positionParticipate in research to determine efficient and effective work proceduresOperate analog or digital equipment to conduct troubleshooting, testing and/or maintenanceAdhere to applicable safety and environmental practices, standards, regulations and corporate commitmentsCompile and maintain records associated with the positionIntegrate external software with corporate software applicationsConsult with internal and external agencies, as required by the positionMay supervise, monitor and inspect construction projectsParticipate in continuous educational and professional development as requiredOther related duties, as assignedKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBuilding Systems Technician Certificate, or equivalent ANDFifth Class Power Engineer’s Certificate, or equivalent ANDRefrigeration Engineer’s Certificate, or equivalent ANDExperience in building operation and maintenance and Building Control Systems (BCS)/Building Automation Systems (BAS), or equivalentKnowledge of related technical principlesAbility to work independently under limited supervisionBasic computer skills (MS Windows and Office Applications)Ability to deal with conflict and recommend solutions to difficult situationsAbility to deal coordinate multiple assignments and projects at one timeAptitude for accuracy and detail, including the ability to cooperate with staff and contractorsValid Class 5 driver’s licence, as required by the positionThis position falls within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067.Candidates under consideration may be required to participate in an assessment process consisting of any/all of the following: interview, abilities test, case study and/or presentation.At SaskPower, we believe in the importance of fostering and maintaining a workforce that’s representative of the communities we serve.
