CNS Psychology - Epilepsy Program

The Epilepsy Program at the London Health Sciences Centre is a Level 4 Epilepsy Centre, dedicated to the management of epilepsy. At its heart is an 11- bed inpatient monitoring unit, the largest of its kind in Canada, treating patients and training professionals from all over the world.

As a Psychometrist working within the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences, you will administer and score a variety of psychological tests under the supervision of the Neuropsychologists to older adolescent and adult inpatients and outpatients with a variety of medical and neurological conditions, assist with training of Psychology students and residents, and may be involved with specialized Epilepsy procedures such as Wada (or eSAM) tests or functional cortical mapping. You will liaise with team members such as administrative assistants, nurses and EEG technologists. Duties also include the maintenance of patient testing files, test materials, and databases, as well as involvement in research and project management activities.

Hours of work: 37.5

Rate of Pay: $36.04 per hour - $45.05 per hour

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (Honours) in Psychology, or related discipline
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent, related experience, health care setting preferred
  • Reliably and validly conduct psychological test administration, including accurate response transcription and test scoring
  • Strong interpersonal skills for managing challenging patients with a variety of presentations (e.g., seizures, brain injury, dementia, major mental illness)
  • Proficient in computerized scoring and database software
  • Effective and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong time management; efficient flexible work under changing daily demands
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
