Senior Electrical Engineer

OverviewThis role provides engineering support and technical accountability for nuclear electrical power systems, including distribution, protection, grounding, cables, motors, batteries, emergency power, separation, qualification and modifications. The incumbent works within a licensed Canadian nuclear environment were nuclear safety, quality, configuration management, human performance and conservative engineering decision-making are fundamental.
Your role
Independently prepare and review analyses, calculations, specifications, design changes, technical assessments and field dispositions.
Apply the station design basis, applicable codes and standards, quality requirements and configuration-management processes.
Support construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance through field walkdowns, technical queries, non-conformance disposition and troubleshooting.
Provide technical mentoring and checking/verification within demonstrated competence and delegated authority.
Identify uncertainty and risk early, document engineering judgment, and escalates safety-significant issues appropriately.
Demonstrated working knowledge appropriate to level in nuclear electrical power systems, including distribution, protection, grounding, cables, motors, batteries, emergency power, separation, qualification and modifications.
Understand the station design and licensing basis and apply the governing code edition/addenda, station procedures and approved engineering processes rather than assuming the newest published standard automatically governs.
Working knowledge, as applicable, of CNSC expectations;
CSA nuclear standards such as N285, N286, N287, N289, N290 and N299;
and ASME BPVC requirements.
Apply nuclear quality assurance, design verification, configuration management, operating experience, ageing management, equipment qualification, human factors and commissioning principles as applicable.
Work effectively with operations, maintenance, construction, commissioning, suppliers, quality and authorized‑inspection interfaces in a high‑reliability environment
About you
Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Minimum 8 - 12 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, with Canadian nuclear/CANDU experience strongly preferred and depth appropriate to the scope
Demonstrated ability to exercise engineering judgment, communicate technical risk, resolve cross-functional issues and uphold nuclear safety under schedule and cost pressure.
