Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) applies the nursing process to support clients, residents, and patients in achieving and maintaining an optimum level of health within a people‑centered care approach in Acute, Transitional, Personal Care Home (PCH), Primary Care, Oncology/Cancer Care, Public Health‑Healthy Living and/or Home Care settings. The LPN works at the full scope of practice, engages in ongoing education, and maintains competency in accordance with Southern Health‑Santé Sud policies, the Qualified Standards of Practice, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba, the Code of Ethics, the Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba, and the Regulated Health Professions Act. Certification, Licensure, and Registration

Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute, Transitional, PCH, Primary Care, Public Health‑Healthy Living, Home Care, Oncology/Cancer Care). Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Current Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) certification. Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) certification. Valid Class5 driver’s license, an all‑purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000. Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge of professional standards of practice, the competency profile for LPNs in Manitoba, and the Code of Ethics. Ability to foster a collaborative interdisciplinary environment that supports quality services, quality improvement, and staff empowerment. Proficiency in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships. Conflict resolution skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Analytical and inquiring approach to problem‑solving while contributing to program improvement. Autonomous decision‑making and leadership ability. Strong organizational skills and flexibility to meet the demands of the position. Capability to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position effectively. Ongoing professional growth and competency relevant to the practice area. Respect for and promotion of a culturally diverse population within the region. Proficiency in both official languages for bilingual positions. Respect for confidentiality in paper, electronic, and other formats. Good work and attendance record. Physical Requirements

Meeting the physical and mental demands of the job. No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions. Ability to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Willingness to travel to other regional facilities as duties may require. Legal and Administrative Information
