ABOUT THE ROLE

Addictions Services is seeking a full-time Addiction and Mental Health Counsellor to join our dedicated team. This position is primarily responsible for coordinating short-term admissions to the Stabilization Bed program and providing brief case management and transitional support within the addiction service system.  This role involves providing high-quality addiction and mental health services to adult clients with complex needs, emphasizing stabilization, ongoing care, and treatment planning.  The counsellor will work across all programs in Addictions Services, working collaboratively with the Lodge on Dawson, Mino Ginawenjigewin (Withdrawal Management and Safe Sobering), Crossroads Centre and Sister Margaret Smith Centre.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor level University degree in Social Work or related discipline
• Registration with the College of Registered Social Workers (RSW) or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years experience within the adult addiction and mental health field.
• Experience working with individuals who are homeless or at risk for homelessness
• Experience with group facilitation, case management, and individual counselling
• Proficiency in evidence-based treatment modalities for addiction and mental health.
• Training or experience in trauma and crisis intervention

Skills/Abilities:

• Understanding of Indigenous culture and Northern communities
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary bio-psychosocial models of care
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)  where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
• Ability to work irregular hours
• Valid Ontario driver's license: Class G
