Positions Summary:
The Painter is a hands-on production role responsible for preparing and applying industrial coatings to steel and metal components across a variety of manufacturing projects. Working within the Painting Division, you will carry out masking, surface preparation, sandblasting, and painting tasks to a high standard, ensuring finished products meet quality and safety requirements.
This is a physically demanding role suited to an experienced industrial painter who can work independently, follow direction, and adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment with rotating shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Masking
- Preparing pieces for paint and /some sandblast as required
- Painting
- Other related duties as assigned by the manager or foreman
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- 5+ experience in industrial painting (steel and other metals)
- Experience operating overhead bridge cranes is considered an asset
- Experience operating a forklift
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of safe working practices (i.e. with solvents) and WHMIS Regulations.
- Good communication skills.
- Must be able to use all equipment safely.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding position and lift 50lbs.
- Ability to take direction and carry out work independently.
Special requirements:
- This is a physically demanding position and working at heights may be required.
- Must be flexible with shifts (night, day and evenings).
- Must have steel toed safety boots and coveralls to start.
We offer competitive wages ($39.07-$41.67/hr) and comprehensive benefits. Remuneration and benefits plan as per the collective agreement.
