Habitat Connectivity Coordinator

**Job Summary:**

The Okanagan Collaborative Conservation Program (OCCP), the South Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Program (SOSCP) and the Thompson-Nicola Conservation Collaborative (TNCC) are seeking a passionate and experienced Habitat Connectivity Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a lead role in developing and implementing landscape-level habitat connectivity initiatives in one of Canada's most biologically diverse regions.

About the Role

As the Habitat Connectivity Coordinator, you will work collaboratively with diverse groups including environmental NGO's, local governments, Indigenous communities and government agencies to develop and implement landscape-level habitat connectivity objectives. Your work will focus on the conservation, protection and restoration of ecosystems to improve wildlife movement and maintain connectivity between core protected areas in the region. The coordinator will report to an advisory team of representatives from OCCP, SOSCP and TNCC.

**Key responsibilities include**

• Lead the development of a work plan for habitat connectivity, with an initial focus on the South Okanagan.
• Facilitate regular meetings with the habitat connectivity advisory team composed of members of Indigenous communities, local government, OCCP, SOSCP, TNCC, and other environmental organizations.
• Prepare comprehensive quarterly reports outlining the progress and impact of habitat connectivity initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, industry leaders, and other strategic partners to advance habitat connectivity goals.
• Deliver engaging presentations to local governments and environmental organizations to raise awareness and secure support for habitat connectivity projects.
• Oversee the coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the program's activities.
• Develop and submit grant proposals to secure funding for key habitat connectivity projects.

**The successful candidate will have**

• Undergraduate degree in environmental planning, biology, environmental sciences, community development, natural resource management or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management, development and coordination within the environmental sector.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with diverse partners and stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of traditional knowledge (TK) principles and Indigenous perspectives on sustainable land and water management.
• Self-motivated with a proven track record of delivering high quality work independently and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• A flexible and adaptable individual who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic work setting.

COMPENSATION

• This is a one-year, full-time contract position (approximately 35 hours per week) with the potential for extension based on performance and funding availability.
• We offer a competitive wage range of $70,000 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
• Enjoy the flexibility of working remotely, with residency within the Okanagan Region required.
