Assistant Professor Of Physics Gaspé Peninsula

Carleton College invites applications for a tenure‑track position in experimental physics (Assistant Professor of Physics) that would normally begin September 1, 2027. Applications received by September 15, 2026 will receive priority consideration.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Physics or a related field (or near completion of a Ph.D.).

Solid experimental physics research background that expands the department’s specialties.

Solid interest in teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the equivalent of five courses per year (lab sections count as half a course each).
  • Advise students on senior projects and involve them in research.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives, events, and college committees (after the first year).
  • Engage in community outreach and collaborate on teaching or research projects with other departments or campus centers (optional).
  • Help cultivate a welcoming community where everyone feels a sense of belonging.

Salary & Benefits

Expected starting salary range: $87,480 – $93,290, adjusted for experience and other factors per law.
