Litigation Lawyer

JMC is pleased to partner with Hicks LeMoine Law in recruiting a Litigation Lawyer to join their team, with the option to be based out of their Amherst, NS or Sackville, NB office.

Hicks LeMoine Law is a well-established general practice firm with over 50 years of experience serving clients across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. With a small, dedicated team of lawyers, the firm offers expertise across Commercial Transactions, Corporate Law, Civil Litigation, Real Estate Law, Probate Law, and more, delivering responsive, client-centred service through a collaborative team approach.

Position Overview

Hicks LeMoine Law is seeking an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join their practice. The successful candidate will work across a range of litigation matters including but not limited to commercial litigation, personal injury, estate litigation, employment litigation etc.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation caseload of various types of litigation.
• Handle all stages of the litigation process: drafting pleadings, discoveries, hearings, mediations, and trial.
• Advise clients on legal strategy and case development in a clear, client-friendly manner.
• Draft and review documents.
• Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas, contributing to the firm's team-based service model.
• Maintain organized files and meet all court deadlines and regulatory obligations.

Qualifications

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of New Brunswick, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, or both (or eligibility for transfer).
• Minimum 4 years of litigation experience.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills with the ability to independently manage a demanding caseload.
• Excellent client communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
