Crew Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

Jump Recruitment , on behalf of our client, Ocean Choice International, is currently seeking a new Crew Recruitment and Retention Coordinator to join their team.

They are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Crew Recruitment and Retention Coordinator to support the Crewing Manager in delivering recruitment and retention initiatives that ensure the ongoing crewing of our offshore fishing fleet. This role will support all aspects of recruitment, including candidate sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, career fair participation, employee engagement, and maintaining ongoing communication with prospective, new, and existing crew members.

Responsibilities

Based at our Fleet Office in St. John's, the successful candidate will play an integral role in building a strong pipeline of qualified crew while supporting initiatives that enhance employee engagement and retention.

Recruitment

• Support recruitment and retention initiatives to ensure year-round crewing requirements are met through regular communication and follow-up with crew members.
• Source, screen, interview, and assess candidates while supporting the onboarding process for new crew members.
• Represent Ocean Choice at career fairs, recruitment events, and industry engagement activities.

Crew Operations

• Coordinate crew rotations, scheduling, travel logistics, training, and certification requirements.
• Travel to company vessels and other operational locations as required to support recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and retention initiatives.
• Maintain accurate crew records, databases, and certification tracking systems.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, Transport Canada regulations, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Perform other administrative duties in support of crewing as required.

Employee Engagement

• Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with crew members, vessel managers, and Fleet Office personnel.
• Support initiatives that improve engagement and long-term retention.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Human Resources, Office Administration, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in recruitment, administration, human resources, operations, or a related field.
• Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with crew scheduling, logistics and marine operations is considered an asset.
• Experience with international recruitment is considered an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with MX Suite would be an asset.
• In addition to regular working hours, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in an on-call rotation and be available to respond to operational needs outside of normal business hours, including evenings, holidays and weekends, as required.
