Engineering Program Specialist


Mackenzie, BC (Hybrid)

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work one (1) or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

$80,703.86 - $91,936.08 annually; plus $44.49 bi-weekly Isolation Allowance for Mackenzie

The Mackenzie Forest District Engineering Team is a small, established unit dedicated to maintaining safe road access for four remote communities in northern B.C. This two-person team works independently and collaboratively, engaging with First Nations, forest licensees, and industry partners to deliver practical, inclusive solutions within budget.

This Engineering Program Specialist role is all about maintaining safe, reliable forest service Roads and infrastructure across one of B.C.’s largest Timber Supply Areas. Your work will directly support access to four remote communities, making a real difference in people’s lives. Based in the welcoming town of Mackenzie, this position offers a unique blend of technical challenge, outdoor adventure, and meaningful engagement with First Nations and industry partners—perfect for those who value inclusion, exploration, and impact.

Qualifications for this role include:
  • Master’s degree in forest technology or a related field (i.e., chemical, metallurgical, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience) as recognized by the Association of BC Forest Professionals and 1 year of related experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in forest technology or a related field (i.e., chemical, metallurgical, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience) as recognized by the Association of BC Forest Professionals and 2 years of related experience, or
  • Diploma in forest technology or a related field (i.e., chemical, metallurgical, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience) as recognized by the Association of BC Forest Professionals and 3 years related experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration (within six months of employment), with the Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT).


Related Experience may include

  • Experience related to work unit or program area.
  • Experience in contract and/or project supervision.
