Probationary Vice Principal

Overview

Northland School Division invites applications for the role of Probationary Vice Principal at Gift Lake School. The start date is August 31, 2026. Gift Lake School serves Kindergarten through Grade 10 and is located in the Gift Lake Métis Settlement, along Highway 750, about 84 kilometres northeast of High Prairie, Alberta, Canada. Major Responsibilities

• A passion for promoting educational success for Indigenous learners, especially in their language and culture. Fluency in language and experience in the culture would be an asset.
• Work closely with the school council and the community to build relationships to create a positive, inviting school environment that is integrated into the life of the community.
• Actively seek local partnerships to create innovative program opportunities to engage and challenge students and promote a sense of pride and accomplishment.
• Be a strong instructional leader who will work with staff to ensure that students have high quality learning experiences.
• Lead by example and be active in the life of the community.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Leadership Quality Standard certificate.
• Must hold a Master\'s degree or willingness to complete a Master\'s degree within a mutually agreed upon timeline.
• Have a minimum of 5 successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.
