Food Service Manager for Red Deer (Main Branch)

Job Responsibility:

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of our food service establishment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of food quality and service.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of the cafeteria
• Determine type of services to be offered and implement operational procedures
• Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports and related forms
• Recruit staff and oversee staff training
• Set staff work schedules and monitor staff performance
• Control inventory, monitor revenues and modify procedures and prices
• Resolve customer complaints and ensure health and safety regulations are followed
• Negotiate arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies
• Negotiate arrangements with clients for catering or use of facilities for banquets or receptions.
• Supervise and coordinate daily food service operations, including kitchen and dining areas.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance to ensure efficient operation and excellent customer service.
• Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain appropriate stock levels to meet demand.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling procedures.
• Handle cash transactions accurately using POS systems; ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed.
• Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
• Conduct interviews for new staff positions as needed, ensuring a strong team is in place.

Requirements

• Proven experience in food service management or a related field, preferably in a restaurant or hotel setting.
• Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, and menu development.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with guests.
• Familiarity with cash handling procedures and POS systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in interviewing and training staff members.
• Bartending/Barista experience is a plus but not required.
