Railcraft International has been designing and manufacturing premium aluminum railing systems for over 35 years. Our products are used on commercial, multi-family, hospitality, and institutional projects across Canada and the United States.
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Canadian Division. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to high-quality architectural construction projects.
What You’ll Do
- Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Perform detailed material and quantity takeoffs.
- Prepare accurate estimates, quotations, and bid submissions.
- Review project requirements and identify scope, exclusions, and potential risks.
- Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors when required.
- Identify value-engineering opportunities while maintaining project specifications and quality standards.
- Work closely with the sales, drafting, engineering, purchasing, and production teams.
- Respond to estimating-related questions from customers and general contractors.
- Maintain estimating databases, pricing information, and project records.
- Track bid opportunities, submission deadlines, and quotation revisions.
- Assist with project handovers once contracts are awarded.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in the commercial construction industry.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bidding processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with estimating software or ERP systems is considered an asset.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Architectural aluminum railing systems
- Miscellaneous or architectural metals
- Glass railing systems
- Multi-family residential construction
- Commercial construction
- Hospitality or institutional projects
- Manufacturing or custom fabrication
