PSW needed for dementia care

Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, patient, and compassionate Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide dedicated, one-on-one in-home care for a senior living with dementia. The ideal caregiver will assist with daily hygiene, incontinence management, light meal preparation, outdoor activities, and light housekeeping. Key Responsibilities Personal Care & Hygiene Oral Hygiene & Grooming: Provide routine toothbrushing, denture care, and daily facial/hair grooming. Bathing Support: Assist safely with showering or bed baths, ensuring a comfortable, step-by-step approach. Incontinence Care: Timely changing of adult diapers/briefs, maintaining thorough skin hygiene, and preserving dignity. Physical Activity & Mobility Indoor & Outdoor Exercise: Guide gentle indoor mobility (stretching, light chair exercises) and accompany the client on safe, outdoor walks in the neighborhood. Safety Monitoring: Maintain constant visual supervision during movement to prevent falls or wandering. Meal Preparation & Household Tasks Nutritional Care: Prepare easy-to-eat, nutritious meals and snacks tailored to dietary preferences; encourage hydration. Light Housekeeping: Vacuum the client's bedroom/living areas and manage client laundry (clothing and bed linens) to maintain a clean environment. Dementia & Behavioral Support Utilize redirection, gentle reassurance, and clear communication to reduce anxiety or agitation. Maintain a calm, structured routine to foster a comfortable home setting. Qualifications Valid PSW Certificate or formal health/eldercare training. Proven hands-on experience supporting individuals with dementia. Up-to-date CPR/First Aid certification and a recent Vulnerable Sector Check. Strong physical capability to assist with transfers and outdoor accompaniment. (Part-Time, Live-Out) For morning, day, evening (on weekend, nurse-attendant)
