EI&C Software Application Engineer

• Software Development & Application Support
  • Develop, configure, maintain, and enhance software applications supporting manufacturing operations and industrial automation processes.
• Manufacturing Systems Integration
  • Design and implement integrations between DCS, MES, data historians, databases, and other manufacturing systems to ensure reliable data exchange.
• Software Programming
  • Develop technical solutions using C#, SQL, PowerShell, and VBA to support operational and business requirements.
• IT/OT Integration
  • Support interfaces and communication between IT and operational technology environments while ensuring system interoperability.
• Investigate software, integration, and system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize operational disruptions.
• Execute testing, qualification, commissioning, validation, and deployment activities to ensure successful implementation of software solutions.
• Application Lifecycle Management
  • Maintain and optimize existing applications to improve reliability, performance, maintainability, and user experience.
• Documentation & Compliance
  • Prepare technical, functional, and software design documentation in accordance with GMP/GxP requirements and internal standards.
• Validation & Change Management
  • Support software validation activities, change control processes, version management, and system lifecycle governance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Automation, Manufacturing, Validation, Quality, and IT teams to deliver compliant and effective solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Technical Education
  • University degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Software & IT Background
  • Strong IT foundation including software development, database technologies, networking concepts, and system integration practices.
• Manufacturing Systems Experience
  • Professional experience working with automation and manufacturing platforms such as DCS, MES, data historians, or similar industrial systems.
• Programming Skills
  • Good practical knowledge of C#, SQL, PowerShell, and/or VBA for developing and supporting business-critical applications.
• Application Lifecycle Management
  • Experience supporting software lifecycle activities, including development, maintenance, deployment, and operational support.
• Previous experience working within GMP/GxP-regulated environments and understanding compliance requirements.
• Technical Documentation
  • Experience creating technical documentation, software specifications, and GxP-compliant project documentation.
• Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
  • Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex software and integration issues.
• System Integration Expertise
  • Experience integrating software applications, databases, and manufacturing systems across IT and OT environments.
• Language Skills
  • Fluent English and/or German with the ability to communicate effectively in technical and cross-functional environments.

  • Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of DeltaV, Syncade, PI System, or similar manufacturing and automation platforms.
• Software Validation
  • Experience with software validation, CSV/CSA methodologies, and data integrity requirements.
• OT Cybersecurity
  • Understanding of operational technology infrastructure and cybersecurity principles within industrial environments.
