Engineering Technologist 1, 2, or 3 - Asset Management (2026-39)

The City of Mission is seeking an Engineering Technologist 1 2 or 3 Asset Management to join our Engineering & Capital Projects Division on a temporary full-time basis for eight months with the possibility of extension. The position may be filled at the Engineering Technologist 1 2 or 3 level depending on the successful candidates education experience skills and qualifications.

This position performs technical work related to the planning development implementation and administration of lifecycle management plans for municipal infrastructure assets. Responsibilities include maintaining asset data and software developing condition monitoring programs conducting inspections assessing infrastructure assets estimating service life and replacement costs and preparing reports and recommendations.

Depending on the level of appointment the position may also support or administer construction contracts and consultant assignments prepare cost estimates and technical correspondence and coordinate GIS and asset management databases. At the Engineering Technologist 3 level the role involves more advanced technical work and greater independence including contract and budget administration technical reporting presentations to Council or committees and coordination of asset management initiatives.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in Civil or Structural Engineering Technology or a recognized academic equivalent combined with related experience in municipal engineering infrastructure construction asset management or a similar environment. Candidates will be considered at the appropriate level based on their qualifications:

• Engineering Technologist 3: A post-secondary degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Technology or recognized equivalent with at least five years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal engineering environment at a similar advanced level. Experience with asset lifecycle reporting and costing contract preparation and contract management is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Engineering Technologist 2: A diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering Technology or recognized equivalent with progressively responsible related experience in a municipal engineering environment or recognized equivalent. Experience with asset lifecycle reporting and costing inspections asset data GIS systems and contract preparation or administration is preferred.
• Engineering Technologist 1: Candidates developing their municipal engineering and asset management experience may be considered where they demonstrate the required foundational education technical aptitude communication skills and ability to learn and perform asset management duties under appropriate guidance.

Candidates must have membership or eligibility for membership with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC and possess a valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence. Strong technical analytical communication and organizational skills are required along with the ability to work independently and establish effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.

Additional Information :

The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on a nine-day fortnight schedule providing one additional day off every two weeks.

The 2025 rate of pay for this CUPE position will be based on the appointed level:

• Engineering Technologist 1 $52.70 per hour
• Engineering Technologist 2 $56.18 per hour
• Engineering Technologist 3 $57.63 per hour

Plus 4.4% in lieu of benefits increasing to 12.4% upon completion of the probationary period.
