Senior Structural Engineer
MacDonald Search Group has been asked by our engineering consulting client to find a first-class Structural Engineer to join their team in Kingston (Hybrid / Solo Branch). The primary responsibility of this role will be to lead the planning, technical execution, and project management of structural engineering projects while serving as the primary structural lead in the Kingston office.

MacDonald Search Group has been asked by our engineering consulting client to find a first-class Structural Engineer to join their team in Kingston (Hybrid / Solo Branch). The primary responsibility of this role will be to lead the planning, technical execution, and project management of structural engineering projects while serving as the primary structural lead in the Kingston office.
Some of what you will do in this role includes:
- Lead the successful planning, execution, and completion of structural engineering projects with a focus on quality, compliance, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Act as Project Manager on single-discipline projects and collaborate with broader project management teams on multi-disciplinary engineering initiatives.
- Conduct field work, perform site inspections, interact with contractors, and build client relationships across the Kingston area.
- Prepare project proposals and detailed technical reports, perform design reviews, and coordinate directly with vendors and key stakeholders.
- Provide technical mentorship, guidance, and expertise while using building codes and structural design standards (OBC Part 4, CSA A23.3, CSA S16, CSA S136, CSA O86).
- 8+ years of structural engineering experience, with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (emphasizing Structural Engineering).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAFI GSE, S-Frame, SPSlab, MASS, Woodworks) and Microsoft Office; basic coding skills are an asset.
- Strong, client-focused work ethic, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to work comfortably as an independent, self-motivated team member.
- Comfort conducting construction site visits and building collaborative relationships with local contractors and clients.
