Veterinarian - Animal Health Surveillance Edmonton

Join the Government of Alberta as a Surveillance Veterinarian in Edmonton, where you will lead efforts to protect both animal and public health. In this full-time, permanent role, your responsibilities will span from managing critical investigations to collaborating with health and industry partners. You will play a key role in shaping the provincial response to animal health threats while ensuring community safety through scientific rigor. Key Responsibilities:
- Direct investigations for animal disease reporting
- Create and implement disease response plans
- Collaborate on animal health program initiatives
- Monitor and report on livestock health issues
- Represent Alberta on national health committees
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
- Minimum five years of relevant veterinary experience
- Eligibility for Alberta Veterinary Medical Association certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required
- Field experience in livestock preferred
