The Opportunity

AG-Pro Capital is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Controller to support its Ontario businesses: Downey Potato Farms, Cohn Farms and Fancy Pak Brand.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working close to operations. Finance in this environment is directly connected to agricultural production, inventories, packaging, processing, costs, margins and day-to-day business decisions.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for the reliability of financial information across the Ontario entities. The successful candidate will work closely with the operations and finance teams to strengthen controls, improve processes and provide clear, timely financial information to support management decisions.

What You Will Do

• Lead monthly and annual closing processes and prepare reliable financial statements.
• Review the general ledger, accounting entries, bank reconciliations and intercompany transactions.
• Establish, apply and improve practical accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Monitor inventories, production costs, margins, profitability and financial performance across multiple entities.
• Participate in annual budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Prepare clear financial analyses, reports and performance indicators for management.
• Supervise and support a small accounting team while ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
• Standardize accounting methods, reports and procedures across the Ontario businesses.
• Coordinate external audits and support tax, regulatory, banking and documentation requirements.
• Identify financial and operational risks and recommend practical improvements.
• Work with the Québec finance team to support consistent reporting and consolidation.
• Improve financial processes and reporting through digital tools, automation and artificial intelligence.

What You Will Bring

• A degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive and relevant experience in financial control, controllership or corporate accounting.
• A CPA designation or active CPA path is strongly preferred.
• Experience in agriculture, food production, manufacturing, packaging or another operational, inventory-based environment is strongly valued.
• Experience working in a multi-entity organization is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, cost analysis and inventory accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with accounting and ERP systems.
• Experience with Sage is an asset; Power BI experience is also an asset.
• Experience supervising and supporting a small accounting team.
• Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, attention to detail and the ability to communicate financial information clearly.
• French-English bilingualism is an asset, but is not required.
