Your opportunity: The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga delivers registrarial services to support U of T Mississauga's academic goals and U of T priorities in the areas of student information, interpretation of policies, and innovation of registrarial interactions. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Admissions, the Senior Admissions Officer works alongside members of the Student Recruitment and Admissions team to develop and implement strategies and initiatives ensuring admissions and transfer credit decisions are made efficiently, equitably, and aligned to U of T Mississauga in achieving its enrolment targets and intake goals. The Officer will play a key lead role in serving as a resource and providing guidance to the admissions team. The Senior Admissions Officer supports the admissions process by assessing and processing admissions applications with accuracy and efficiency. Having a broad understanding of domestic and international secondary and post-secondary education systems, the Officer will use prior knowledge and expertise in admissions to research and recommend policy changes, look for opportunities to refine processes and leverage technology, working with the admissions team to accomplish these goals. Working closely with academic departments, the Officer conducts transfer credit assessment and maintains course equivalency information. The Officer will help respond to inquiries and advise prospective and newly admitted students using extensive knowledge of the university's policies and procedures as they relate to transfer credits and other admission pathways. As a member of the Student Recruitment and Admissions team, the Senior Admissions Officer contributes to overall U of T Mississauga recruitment and admission objectives and goals, through the delivery of accurate and timely student-focused services, and positively represents U of T Mississauga through active participation at events. Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
- Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
- Reviewing and assessing admissions applications
- Coordinating program assessment processes for direct entry transfer credit applicants
- Conducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision making
- Identifying and resolving systemic data integrity issues
- Researching and analyzing processes, programs and services and recommending changes for improvement
- Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Minimum 6 years' experience in an admission and/or transfer credit post-secondary environment
- Experience reviewing, assessing and advising prospective undergraduate students on admissions, transfer credit and academic requirements
- Experience providing guidance, training and being a resource on complex policies and procedures
- Demonstrated experience preparing, interpreting and analyzing detailed statistical reports
- Excellent knowledge of domestic and international education systems
- Solid understanding of undergraduate policies and procedures and admission requirements; flexibility and ability to adapt to changing policies, procedures and requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating tact and sound judgement
- Excellent analytical and interpretive skills with the ability analyze detailed information and complex regulations and guidelines with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in student information systems and MS Office with advanced knowledge of Excel; ability to learn new systems and to develop and maintain web-based information and applications
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure, manage heavy workloads and competing priorities to meet deadlines
Assets (Nonessential):
- Admissions and Transfer Credit experience with the University of Toronto or in a similar university setting
- Working knowledge of ROSI and Slate
- Experience utilizing query, business intelligence and data visualization tools e.g. SQL, Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, etc,
