Position & Summary of Scope

Reporting to the Manager, Compensation & Benefits, the Human Resources Benefits Associate provides accurate, timely and person-centered support for the administration of employee pension and benefit programs. As a key point of contact for members, employees and third-party providers, including insurers, the incumbent responds to inquiries with compassion, discretion and technical accuracy. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to explain specialized pension and benefit information in a clear and supportive manner. The Human Resources Benefits Associate performs all duties in a manner consistent with St.Amant's Mission, Values and Policies, while contributing to reliable service delivery and a positive employee experience.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school Diploma, Certificate or G.E.D
• Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management and/or relevant skills and experience in an HR related setting
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.

Professional:

• Minimum two years' experience in human resources, preferably in pension and benefits administration
• Experience working with employees and the public and in an effective and professional manner
• Knowledge of employer-based benefits, policies, procedures and principles
• Good numeric skills to ensure accuracy in calculations of benefits entitlements, payments and deductions
• Ability to create, compile and analyze reports and communicate trend data for leadership
• Ability to compile and analyze trend data for programs
• Excellent data entry accuracy and attention to detail
• General understanding of human resources-related legislation, and how to apply HR policies and collective agreements appropriately in day-to-day work
• Strong computer capabilities with experience in using Microsoft Office products and applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet browsers
• Strong organizational, time management and communication skills (written and oral)
• Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  
• Experience using Quadrant or another HRIS is considered an asset

Duties & Responsibilities

The incumbent works collaboratively with the Human Resources team when delivering services.

Duties include:

• Administrating leaves of absence with adherence to policy, Collective Bargaining Agreements and Labour Standards
• Liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless processing of leaves of absence
• Running and formatting daily, weekly and monthly reports related to benefits
• Processing changes to employee benefits and updating them in the HRIS system
• Reviewing biweekly payroll exceptions reports and making necessary corrections
• Updating the HRIS system to reflect accurate information in a timely manner
• Calculating employee benefit arrears and refunds
• Facilitating the collection of arrears with the payroll department and the employees'
• Responding to employee inquiries and providing direction to resources
• Run and import biweekly uploads into the benefits portal
• Review, correct and post position and employment events in the HEB Manitoba portal
• Determining Health Spending credits based on policy and Collective Bargaining Agreements
• Coordinating retirements internally and in conjunction with HEB Manitoba
• Updating, improving, and maintaining benefits processes as needed
• Contributing to visibility of benefits related information through internal communications (BLINK)
• Maintaining data integrity between the HRIS system and the benefits portal
