Role Summary:

The Site Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the site. They coordinate employee schedules to ensure adequate coverage, assist with recruiting efforts to ensure necessary manpower numbers are established, coordinate training and conduct staff performance reviews. A Site Manager enforces all workplace policies and procedures. It is the Site Manager’s duty to maintain a safe workplace, ensure that time and budgetary restrictions are followed, and quality standards are met.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Audits progress of on-going projects - keeps upper-level management informed of project status and any special concerns and ensures adherence to approved plans and specifications.


• Critically reviews work orders, invoices, packing slips, LEM’s, etc. to determine accuracy, conformance to contractual commitments, etc.


• Inspects job sites to ensure conformance of Sub-Contractors and site employees to established worksite policies and practices.


• Ensures safety and quality assurance programs are observed.


• Have an understanding of contracting methods, scheduling and blueprint reading.


• Ensure that the project is built to Client’s drawings & specifications.


• Assist with maintaining the contracting schedule and work efficiency over the course of the entire duration of the project.


• Conduct Lost Prevention Observation (LPO) with Site Safety.


• Execute and Manage operational budget. 
  


• Ensure continual open communication and strong working relationships are maintained with clients and client representatives.


• Meet regularly with site leadership to review current policies and procedures to ensure Bouchier is complaint.


• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


• Manage conflict and resolve issues as they occur.


• Manage all sub-trades, workers and suppliers, ensuring that they perform according to their contract.


• Maintains detailed activity records and prepares activity reports.


• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and mandates of local, provincial, and federal agencies.


• Represent the organization at site meetings, business meetings, supplier and contractor sites. 


• Review and administer short and medium range operational plans, goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; assist to effect changes required for improvement. 
  

Education & Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of oil sands and contracting related activities.


• Experience in contractor coordination in a heavy construction environment.


• Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.


• Post-secondary diploma or degree in related field.


• A combination of education and experience will be considered.


• Adaptable to changing work environment.


• Proven conflict resolution skills.


• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.


• Good organizational skills (Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently).


• Ability to demonstrate and apply sound judgment to work situations.


• Ability to deliver to tight deadlines.


• Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills.


• Ability to read and understand construction documents and transportation mapping and scheduling.


• Ability to make sound decisions using standard procedures.


• Managing a company of 200 + associates is an asset.


• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clean 5-year abstract.


• CSO (Common Safety Orientation) certificate is required
