Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Control, Automation and Electrical Engineer to join our team in Mississauga . This role belongs to our Project Delivery Group and helps clients reach their business goals through strong technical capabilities.

The Control, Automation and Electrical Engineer reports to the Project Manager on small projects, and to the Control, Automation and Electrical Lead Engineer on larger projects. The role has two distinct functions: on‑site commissioning engineer and office‑based senior Control, Automation and Electrical Engineer.

On‑Site

• Independently execute all commission activities.
• Take ownership of project tasks to ensure timely completion and work with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with clients and contractors.
• Guide the work of others, including contractor staff.
• Perform factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing.

Office‑Based

• Assist with delivery of project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
• Prepare, subject to approval of the Control, Automation and Electrical Lead Engineer, technical documentation required for project execution.
• Manage and coordinate engineering work progress in accordance with scope, schedule, and procedures.
• Review shop drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs.
• Monitor fabrication and construction work to ensure execution per engineering designs.
• Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
• Implement corrective actions as required.
• Review quality audits of engineering work and perform remedial work per project procedures and the quality assurance plan.
• Verify documentation and interdisciplinary coordination per project procedures.
• Prepare draft monthly engineering progress reports.
• Provide monthly updates on progress of engineering work packages.
• Compile functional control specifications and program control systems.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in electrical design/consultancy within a large engineering or multidisciplinary project environment.
• Registered professional engineer with PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario).
• Demonstrated hands‑on site experience and ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and resolve issues.
• Initiative and teamwork skills.
• PLC/DCS programming experience (Rockwell preferred; DeltaV and ABB are assets).
• Knowledge of 3D data‑centric design systems.
• Experience with Smart Plant Electrical and Smart Plant Instrumentation.
• Recent AutoCAD and MicroStation experience.
• Ability to delegate tasks and supervise others.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good planning and organizational skills.
• Minimal supervision required.
• Safety awareness.
• Willingness to travel.

Base Salary Range

$86,000 – $135,000
