Position ScopeNACG are seeking an experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off-Road) with Service Truck to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area.This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.For this role, NACG offers very competitive industry wages for our service provider positions!Where You’ll Be WorkingSite SuncorSchedule 14 x 14, 12 hour days (paid for 11.5 hours). Those in a Service Provider role will not be required to join the union**What You'll Be DoingComplete repairs on CAT/Komatsu/Hitachi equipment of all sizes.Work closely with peers in both maintenance and operations.Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all equipment.Evaluate equipment performance and inspect to detect faults and malfunctions.Trouble shooting systems - example hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair.Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.Mobilization of equipment for maintenance and repair.Develop work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired.Order required repair parts, complete reports and fill out work orders.Teach and evaluate apprentices and mentor Mechanics.Follow NACG codes of practice and Safe Operating Procedures.Other maintenance duties as assigned.What Makes You The ONEMinimum 2 years’ experience post Journeyman (Journeyperson) certification on large Haul Trucks/Dozers/Graders and Excavators.Possess excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities.Capable of working with minimal supervision.Exhibit professional work behaviors.Committed to continuous learning.Basic knowledge of computer applications.Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interactionA valid Alberta Journeyperson Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman (Journeyperson) Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road).Experience with Cat SIS is an asset.Previous experience on a Safety Sensitive work site an assetTruck RequirementsCurrent CVIP and Picker Inspection.Oxygen/acetylene cabinets that meet OH&S requirements.Full complement of tools for repairing Off Road Equipment.$5 million liability insuranceTransferable Skills/Terms HET, Heavy Equipment Technician, Owner/Operator, Independent Contractor, Field Mechanic, Field Heavy Duty MechanicWhat's NextIf you are chosen to move forward in our hiring process for a site-based role, you will be asked to provide the followingProvide a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent Driver’s AbstractValid CSO or BSO (Energy Safety Canada)Silica Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)H2S Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)Field Ergonomics (Energy Safety Canada)Be subject to Random Testing at Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sitesUndergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testingBreath Alcohol TestUrine Drug TestFitness-to-Work Health AssessmentAudiometric TestingVision ScreeningCriminal Record CheckOnce dispatched the following processes will occurWill receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testingAn email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled outAfter all results and paperwork are received by NACG, candidates will be contacted by Site Admin to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other site-specific details.Please note The onboarding process can take anywhere from 3-8 business days.Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE, SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL BE CONTACTED VIA PHONE OR EMAIL.NACG in a NutshellNorth American Construction Group (NACG) has served as an industry leader in the heavy construction and mining industries for over 65 years.
