Welder / Fitter - Experienced
2302 Rd 125, St. Marys, ON N4X 1C9, Canada
The Opportunity:
If you’re an experienced welder who wants more than running the same bead all day, this shop is different. At All-Equip and Platinum Trailers, you’ll work in a genuinely mixed environment — production runs, custom one-offs, prototype builds — where the work is varied, the standards are high, and your full range of skills gets used. We’re looking for someone who has put in the time, knows the craft, and is ready to work somewhere their experience actually matters.
Work Arrangement: Full-Time, Fully On-site — Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with overtime as required.
Compensation:
This is an hourly position paying $20–$30/hr depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including Extended Health Care. We believe in paying fairly for genuine skill.
About Us:
All-Equip is a family-owned manufacturer with a genuine entrepreneurial spirit: if it moves, hauls, or solves a problem in the transportation sector, we’ll find a way to build it. Founded in 2011, we’ve grown into a recognized leader in both trailer manufacturing and heavy equipment repair and service — and it’s that repair experience that gives us a real edge. We’ve seen what fails in the field, what holds up under pressure, and what the competition consistently gets wrong. That knowledge is baked into every product we build. It’s why our trailers outperform — and it’s why the people who build them matter.

The Role:
As a Welder/Fitter at All-Equip, you’ll work across both production and custom fabrication — one day building repeat-run trailer components, the next fitting up a one-off prototype or tackling a custom order that hasn’t been built before. The work is diverse by design: we build what others won’t, which means we need welders who are genuinely skilled, not just fast.
In a typical week, you’ll move between production welding, custom fit-up and fabrication, and hands-on problem-solving with our engineering and fabrication teams. It’s a role that suits people who take pride in their craft and thrive when no two days are quite the same.
Key Responsibilities :
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches for both production builds and custom projects.
- Fit, assemble, and weld aluminum and steel components with precision — proper alignment, tolerances, and structural integrity every time.
- Perform production welding on repeat-run trailer components while maintaining consistent quality and efficiency.
- Support custom fabrication and prototyping by building one-off parts, test assemblies, and new design concepts.
- Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to solve fit-up challenges and refine prototype designs.
- Select appropriate welding processes (MIG/TIG) and parameters based on material type, thickness, and project requirements.
- Use jigs, fixtures, and measuring tools to ensure accurate fit-up and repeatability.
- Operate fabrication equipment including saws, torches, grinders, hoists, and welding machines.
- Inspect welds and assemblies against internal quality standards and customer specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area — proper PPE and safety procedures are non-negotiable.
What We Offer :
- Varied, meaningful work — production, custom fab, and prototyping, so your skills stay sharp and the job stays interesting.
- Extended health care and dental coverage.
- Bi-weekly direct deposit.
- Overtime opportunities available — for those who want them.
Career Path:
We’re a growing company, and skilled tradespeople grow with us. Whether your goal is to take on more complex custom and prototype work, step into a lead hand role, or move toward fabrication supervision, we want to know where you want to go — and we’ll help you get there.
Qualifications & Experience :
- 3–5+ years of welding and fitting experience in a fabrication, trailer, or heavy-equipment environment.
- Proficiency in aluminum and steel welding — MIG required, TIG a strong asset.
- Strong fitting skills: able to read drawings, lay out parts, check tolerances, and build accurate assemblies.
- Experience in both production and custom fabrication settings — you know the difference between repeatability and solving a problem you’ve never seen before.
- Ability to build, modify, or work with jigs and fixtures to support repeatability and accuracy.
- Comfortable with prototyping, one-off builds, and solving fit-up challenges on the fly
- Physically able to lift, bend, stand, and work in a shop environment for extended periods.
- Solid understanding of weld quality standards, distortion control, and proper heat management.
- Strong problem-solving instincts and attention to detail — you find the flaw before production does.
- Strong attention to detail and genuine pride in the quality of your work.
Education:
- Completion of a welding apprenticeship or equivalent trade certification preferred; equivalent experience considered.
