St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, Children and Youth, is recruiting for Social Work Assistant2 to provide case management and service coordination activities for individuals with mental illness. Who can Apply

Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. Responsibilities

Manage a caseload for individuals with more complicated behavioral disorders. Interview individuals and their families to gather background information. Prepare case histories and determine eligibility for services. Advocate and assist individuals in identifying and obtaining services. Supervise Social Work Assistant1 and direct care staff. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and 2 years of social work experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in social work can substitute for 1 year of specialized experience. Candidates within State Service on the current Social Work Assistant3 eligible list may be considered for a competitive class appointment. Candidates within State Service who have one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section70.1 of the Civil Service Law may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position. In accordance with Section52.7 of the Civil Service Law, a non‑competitive promotion examination will be conducted for this position. Additional Information

Permanent appointment may be made by non‑competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications, provided all requirements of non‑competitive promotion are met. The promotion field for the Social Work Assistant2 position consists of candidates who have one year of permanent service as a Social Work Assistant1.
