Part-Time Psychiatrist - Island Health

Enhance your career with Island Health as a part-time Psychiatrist in Nanaimo. Focus on providing psychiatric services to adults facing housing instability and severe mental health concerns. You will offer approximately 330 hours of care each year, managing a diverse patient population of up to 30 adults. Your expertise in both psychiatric assessment and medication management will contribute to a multidisciplinary team effort aimed at improving patient outcomes. As part of your responsibilities, you will also take part in training sessions and departmental meetings, engaging with medical students and residents to help cultivate future talent in psychiatry. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide psychiatric services for at least 44 weeks per year
• Manage care for up to 30 patients experiencing chronic issues
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals in a team setting
• Perform assessments and oversee medication plans
• Engage in on-call duties every 4 to 6 weeks

Requirements:

• Board certification in psychiatry
• Experience managing complex psychiatric needs
• Ability to work with community care providers
• Eligibility for a clinical appointment under the Island Medical Program
