Job Overview
At PwC, our deal professionals provide strategic advice and support to clients in mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring. The Valuations & Deals Senior Associate will focus on providing analysis and valuation services for financial transactions, advising clients on complex financial instruments and developing valuation models for a variety of purposes.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on complex financial instruments, valuation issues and develop valuation models for M&A, financial reporting, taxation, corporate decision support and corporate governance.
- Provide valuation advisory services for private equity and asset‑management clients on private debt portfolios.
- Report and present analyses, including written reports, to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Research and develop quantitative tools that provide analytical insights into business transactions and asset valuations using market and company data.
- Integrate data engineering and data science into working processes to build client solutions.
- Support broader engagement teams to help management and boards arrive at informed decisions by providing credible valuation conclusions.
- Establish credibility with existing clients by demonstrating subject‑matter expertise and knowledge.
- Perform audit support work, including reviewing complex financial‑instrument valuations and private‑credit portfolio valuations.
- Provide support to team members in technical skills, industry knowledge and soft skills.
Qualifications
- Strong academic background in a quantitative or finance discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Financial Engineering, or other relevant postgraduate degrees).
- Solid understanding of financial derivatives and fixed‑income securities valuation modelling.
- Strong analytical and project‑management skills and the ability to analyze business situations.
- Professional and personable demeanour to interact with clients and work effectively in teams.
- Proficiency in common programming languages (Python, R, Visual Basic, SQL, etc.).
- Chartered Financial Analyst designation is an asset.
- Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI and data engineering is an advantage.
- Proven ability to manage project workflows and deliver on time.
- Experience in audit support and financial‑instrument valuation is desirable.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $58,400 – $97,500 CAD, indicative of the hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres. Base salary is determined by skills, experience, qualifications and work location. Eligible employees may also participate in variable incentive pay programs designed to reward individual and firm‑wide achievements.
