About Our Client
Our client in the Property & Casualty Insurance industry is sourcing a senior accountant for a 6-month contract. The role is hybrid, based out of Toronto.
About the Opportunity
- Manage full cycle accounting duties, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules in accordance with month-end deadlines
- Prepare and analyze account reconciliations for designated client accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including variance analysis and reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial results
- Assist with the preparation of tax filings and other government-related reporting requirements (e.g., HST, premium tax)
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and supporting working papers as needed
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external auditors to support audit requests and inquiries
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls within the reconciliation and reporting cycle
- Provide support to the VP, Accounting on ad hoc projects, analysis, and reporting requests as they arise
About You
- 3 years of P&C insurance industry experience
- Full cycle accounting experience including financial reporting, month end reporting, etc.
- CPA designation is an asset but not required
- Must be proficient with dealing with a large volume of reconciliations
- Proficient with cash management and aging follow ups
- Strong Excel skills - VLOOKUP’s, pivots
