Staff People Business Partner

Themis Solutions Inc.

Summary

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely. We are seeking a Staff People Business Partner to partner with Clio's Finance organization and key frontline leaders across Product (Product Management and Product Design) and Content. The role sits at the intersection of business strategy, operational execution, and team performance during a period of continued scale, maturity, and transformation. As a Staff level PBP, you are not simply executing People strategy; you are shaping it.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal People advisor to frontline and executive leaders across Finance, Product, and Content, acting as a strategic partner on consequential organizational decisions.
  • Drive the People strategy with a multi‑year lens, aligning business trajectory, organizational health, and talent imperatives into a coherent, integrated plan.
  • Influence company‑wide People priorities by surfacing patterns, risks, and opportunities from client groups and translating local insights into organization‑level recommendations.
  • Lead complex, multi‑phase organizational design efforts—including operating model transformation, large‑scale restructures, and integration of newly formed or acquired teams—advising on spans, layers, and structural interdependencies at scale.
  • Partner with Talent Management and TD/L to support leadership development, manager capability, and team effectiveness programmes.
  • Provide deep, ongoing executive coaching to senior leaders up to and including VP and C‑suite across Finance, Product, and Content.
  • Advise on and lead sensitive, high‑complexity employee relations matters, lead investigations, and develop ER frameworks and escalation protocols.
  • Shape the design and execution of key People programs such as performance management, talent calibration, succession planning, and total rewards alignment.
  • Conduct workforce planning, aligning talent supply and demand to multi‑year business roadmaps and financial planning cycles.
  • Mentor and coach Senior and mid‑level PBPs, developing the next generation of People partners and driving consistency in practice quality across the team.
  • Employ sophisticated people data analytics to provide predictive insight, identify organizational risk, and influence business strategy.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive HR / People Business Partner experience, with a substantial portion at a senior or Staff‑equivalent level in complex, cross‑functional organizations, specifically Finance and Product / R&D.
  • Demonstrated track record of advising senior executive leaders, ideally including C‑suite, with confidence and impact in high‑growth SaaS or technology companies.
  • Deep expertise across the full spectrum of People practice: organizational design, executive coaching, ER and investigations, workforce planning, talent strategy, and performance management.
  • Superior knowledge of employment law across multiple jurisdictions, including cross‑border and international employment contexts.
  • Exceptional executive presence, communication, and influencing skills, with credibility in boardrooms, sensitive employee conversations, and People team workshops.
  • Systems thinking, with a holistic view of organizational dynamics rather than siloed functional areas.
  • Strong data fluency, able to translate complex people analytics into executive‑level narrative and strategic recommendations.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and proven ability to lead through organizational change and transformation.
  • Collaborative, values‑driven approach with confidence to challenge, push back, and hold a point of view when it matters.
  • Experience applying AI tools to elevate People practice and personal productivity.
  • Bonus: Background supporting pre‑IPO or post‑merger integration, international expansion, or significant workforce transformation; aligning workforce planning with financial planning cycles; building People practices across multiple geographies and jurisdictions; supporting Finance or Product & Engineering functions in a pre‑IPO SaaS or technology company.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $112,100 to $140,100 to $168,100 CAD, with separate bands for other regions based on local currency. Compensation is a main component of Clio’s Total Rewards Program and includes competitive, equitable salary; top‑tier health, dental, and vision benefits; hybrid work environment with local office requirements; flexible time off (encouraged 20 days per year); $2,000 annual counseling benefit; RRSP matching and RESP contribution; and a celebration program with special acknowledgement at 3, 5, 7, and 10 years.

We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Clio provides accessibility accommodations during the recruitment process. Should you require any accommodation, please let us know and we will work with you to meet your needs.
