Registered Early Childhood Educator Supervisor

Job Responsibility:

Position Summary:

Efficiently and effectively direct and coordinate the activities of the Playcare Licensed Childcare Programs run at Danforth Gardens Public School. Provide support, direction and guidance to Playcare Danforth staff, part-time employees and all program participants. Ensure that all work is carried out within the context of the Agency's Mission statement, board-approved policies and organizational practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Management:

• Oversees daily operations of the childcare program
• Plans, organizes, and implements weekly programs for children aged 4-5 or 6-12 while overseeing staff program plans

Administration:

• Assists in program-related administrative duties (attendance, calendar, menu, etc.)

Staff Supervision:

• Trains and supervises staff, volunteers, and/or placement students while in program

Professional Development:

• Attends staff meetings and trainings as required
• Participates in and supports agency-wide special events and fundraising initiatives

Communication:

• Communicates and provides support to participants' parents/caregivers
• Fosters relationships with Community partners and school administrators

Health & Safety:

• Ensures safety and well-being of the program participants at all times
• Ensures that all incidents/accidents are reported and required documentation forwarded immediately to the supervisor
• Ensures an approach that displays a positive attitude, sensitivity, and understanding towards people of all abilities, backgrounds, and orientation

Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensures compliance with Ministry rules and regulations
• Keeps up to date on changes in childcare regulations and standards
• ensures adherence to the Agency Quality Improvement (AQI)
• Implements routine checks to ensure all policies and procedures are up to date
• Carries out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Early Childhood Education recognized by the College of ECE and two years of experience and training
• Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience working with children
• Valid CPR/First Aid
• Ability to motivate and supervise a diverse personnel team
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Valid G Class or G2 driver's license
• Access to a vehicle

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Monday - Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (Non-Instructional Days)
