Childcare Assistant Director- Cavanagh
Kepler Academy Early Learning & Child Care
Kepler Academy is looking for an Assistant Director at our Cavanagh location.
Responsibilities
Assistant Directors will promote excellence in the delivery of Kepler Academy’s core foundation.
- Promote and provide a positive work environment, relevant feedback, communication to employees and families, proper nutrition, and plan daily activities.
- Overall accountability for the management of daily operations, overseeing and leading the work of all staff at the childcare center and business results for the centre.
- Operate in a professional manner and ensure quality standards are being met.
- Manage overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the centre such as marketing and people management.
- Provide oversight and direction to employees in the centre.
- Coach, mentor and develop staff, including new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Consciously create a workplace culture that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, guiding principles, and values.
- Provide effective performance feedback.
- Maintain employee work schedules.
- Ensure strong relationships with families through regular ongoing communication.
- Be part of the community to build strong partnerships.
- Maintain transparent communication.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop a department and staff members.
- Proven leadership in promoting a positive workforce environment.
- Strong work ethic.
- Excellent organization and time‑management skills.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Computer literacy: strong skills in Microsoft Office and ability to learn other systems.
- Solid knowledge & understanding of the Provincial Child Care Regulations.
- Business knowledge of basic economics, budgeting, accounting principles and practices is necessary.
- Minimum of 3 years Early Childhood experience in the childcare industry.
- Minimum of one year in a management role is an asset but not required.
- Post‑secondary education in a business‑related field, or experience with finances and budgeting is an asset.
- Child Development Supervisor Certificate (two‑year Diploma in Early Childhood Development or equivalent education).
- Standard First Aid certificate.
- Current criminal record check, including vulnerable sector search.
