Veterinary Leader for Research at UHN (Winnipeg)

Join UHN as a Clinical Veterinarian, playing an essential role at the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Centre. Deliver veterinary care and support a leading research animal program.

In this permanent, full time position, you will report directly to the Director of Veterinary Services, providing crucial clinical support for a variety of laboratory animal species. The role includes developing standard operating procedures, monitoring health surveillance programs, and contributing to quality assurance initiatives. Your skills will help shape the veterinary care provided to advance research objectives and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver thorough veterinary care to diverse animal species
• Support the development of animal models for research projects
• Update and maintain vital standard operating procedures
• Collaborate with investigators for humane study endpoints
• Participate in compliance and quality assurance activities

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
• Eligible for veterinary practice in Ontario
• At least 3 years in laboratory animal medicine
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Knowledge of Canadian Council on Animal Care policies
