?akisq?nuk First Nation (??AFN?) is a member Community of the Ktunaxa Nation . With a total membership of approximately 370, the Nation is located just 10km south of Invermere, BC and is home to approximately 100. ?AFN exists for the Community. Externally, we are here to serve the Community, and internally, we are our own Community, comprised of different departments unified by our Vision, Mission, and Values. As a team, through our own roles and departments, the ?AFN Organization works together to achieve our strategic plan Our Thinking and continue to progress and move our community forward.
We are looking for a full-time Clinical Lead (Registered Nurse) to join our team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Health, the Clinical Lead will be responsible for delivering a range of healthcare programs, therapeutic interventions, and educational services to members and residents of ?AFN. The Clinical Lead will serve as the principal point of contact for clinical resources and nursing services. The role involves offering consultative and operational leadership to the community. Furthermore, the Clinical Lead will spearhead engagement activities within the team, collaborating with the Associate Director of Health and nursing team in alignment with the scope of practice defined by the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives. This position carries the responsibility of overseeing professional practice and conduct, reporting, and identifying any service gaps to meet the evolving needs of the community.
Note: This position is full-time with a set weekly schedule.
The primary responsibilities include:
· Provide clinical support and leadership in planning, organizing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating clinical services in alignment with AFN's culture and traditions.
· Perform supervisory and management functions of clinic nurses, responsible for performance management, training new nursing staff, and scheduling.
· Help draft policies and procedures and resources required for consistent, comprehensive, and efficient health services.
· Identify areas of inter/intra-departmental conflict or breakdown in delivery of care by working with other departmental supervisors to identify and resolve conflict.
· Coordinating smooth operation of the health care clinic.
· Utilize and communicate established medical protocols to nursing staff.
· Oversee and triage patient care and evaluate results of patient care provided by nursing staff; make changes in procedures and approaches to care as necessary for quality assurance.
· Ensure all medical equipment is in working order.
· Promote community health through innovative and leading programs to meet evolving community needs.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or equivalent education
· Current practicing license with the Collete of Registered Nurses of BC
· 5-7 years of experience as a nurse combined with supervisory experience
· Professional knowledge of and the ability to apply nursing care principles, practices and procedures required to assess needs of wide variety of medical, surgical, obstetrical, gynecological, pediatric, and emergency patients, as well as knowledge of the normal course of diseases, anticipated complications and indicated therapeutic interventions
· Communicable Disease Control Certificate is an asset
· Experience working with First Nations / Indigenous communities is an asset
· Knowledge of language, history and culture of the ?akisqnuk band is an asset
· Ability to act efficiently and effectively in crisis situation
· Strong communication skills, both written, verbal and listening
· Excellent attention to detail when reviewing health details and creating reports
· Strong customer services skills when working with community members
· NOTE: A criminal check and vulnerable sector search will be conducted on the successful applicant
