Lead Engineering Director - Hybrid Role

Accommodations Plus International is seeking a Lead Engineering Director to shape our engineering team. This role, based in Markham, Ontario, blends technical leadership with strategic direction in a hybrid model.
As the engineering leader, you will manage a dynamic team of 10-20 engineers, focusing on architecture, modernization of legacy systems, and enhancing engineering processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive alignment on technical strategies. Ensuring continuous delivery and engineering excellence are key priorities that will set the tone for your leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and nurture a high-performing engineering team
• Oversee system design within AWS environment
• Collaborate with product and business teams effectively
• Optimize delivery based on product roadmaps
• Establish a strong observability and incident management practice
Requirements:
• 7+ years in software development with 3+ years in leadership roles
• Strong technical expertise in Java and Angular or similar
• Experience in both relational and NoSQL databases
• Familiar with AWS for production workloads
• Ability to leverage AI tools to improve development
