Site Description:

The Labrador Health Centre is located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.  The hospital has 25 beds, a 24-hour Emergency  Department and Outpatient Clinics, staffed by Family Physicians.  An education agreement with Memorial University of Newfoundland trains Family Practice Residents with faculty members on site.  Each Family Physician is also responsible for the medical care of a North Coast community.  Specialists include a General Surgeon, an  Anesthetist and an Obstetrician/Gynecologist.  There are a number of visiting specialists who provide services at the Labrador Health Centre on a regular basis .

Position Details:

Position: Casual security gaurd

Site: Labrador Health Centre

Hours: Monday - Friday with flexible hours (for emergencies/support)

Payrate: $23.81 / hour

Posting Date: August 24, 2026

Internal Closing Date: O Ctober 1st, 2026

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct regular patrols of hospital grounds, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, and entrances/exits.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems; report suspicious activity immediately.
• Control access points, ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
• Respond to emergencies (medical, fire, security threats) and assist during crises and evacuations.
• Provide customer service by assisting visitors, patients, and staff while ensuring policy compliance.
• De-escalate conflicts and handle tense situations professionally.
• Complete accurate daily reports, including incidents and security concerns.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and law enforcement to maintain safety.
• Enforce hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols.

Prerequisites:

• Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (CSA-approved)
• Tuberculosis (TB) screening
• Proof of full childhood/primary vaccinations
• One adult dose of Tdap (age 18+)
• Tdap booster required every 10 years
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• English fluency (oral and written)
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred
• Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification required
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
