Salary: Administrative Support 2 (AS2) based on 40 hours per week: $23.79 - $26.76 per hour
Administrative Support 3 (AS3) based on 40 hours per week: $23.28 - $29.46 per hour
In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
- 5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
Regular wage employees are also entitled to shift premium pay:
- $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
- $2.75 per hour for evenings
Provincial Parks are essential to the quality of life that Albertans enjoy. They conserve natural landscapes, wildlife habitat and offer a broad range of nature-based outdoor recreational opportunities.
Information Officer Duties (AS2)
- Provide front‑line customer service while registering campers and delivering information about park activities and regulations.
- Maintain safety, accident or wildlife occurrence reports and deliver them in a timely manner.
- Assist in the distribution of information-based communications such as posters, brochures and program advertisements.
- Maintain knowledge of recreational and tourist opportunities to respond to requests for information on facilities, public safety issues and tourism opportunities.
- Acquire and use AspiraOne system to register campers, process changes, check‑outs, cancellations and payments.
- Operate cash register and point‑of‑sale machine, ensuring accurate cash-outs.
- Perform building security tasks, keep facilities clean and report maintenance issues.
- Ensure hours of operation are communicated to visitors.
- Sell retail products and services and manage inventory, restocking merchandise as needed.
- Reconcile revenue for daily cash‑outs and record data in Excel workbooks.
- Provide exceptional customer service, respond to emergencies, complaints and follow up with other departments.
- Work with other park program staff to meet operational and visitor needs.
- Report issues with reservation systems, tills and equipment to supervisor.
- Become a park specialist with knowledge of all park areas and conditions.
Lead Information Officer Duties (AS3)
- Coordinate day‑to‑day tasks of the team and ensure procedures are followed.
- Support IOs with training, performance reviews and decision‑making processes.
- Coordinate IO work schedules with Supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with visitors, staff and visitors in a professional manner.
- Place orders for booth and store inventory and ensure supplies are available.
- Maintain knowledge of recreational opportunities and distribute information-based communications.
- Support distribution of posters, brochures and program advertisements.
Qualifications
- Information Officer (AS2) – High school diploma; English proficiency; work weekend and evening shifts; valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence; criminal record check; valid First Aid certificate with CPR; strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Assets: Strong customer service skills; friendly personality; knowledge of Alberta Parks and Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca; familiarity with park operations and regulations; independent problem‑solving ability.
- Lead Information Officer (AS3) – High school diploma, one year of retail or supervisory experience and customer service experience; English proficiency; knowledge of Alberta Parks and Shop.AlbertaParks.ca; weekend and evening shifts; strong computer skills; valid First Aid and CPR Level C/AED; valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence; minimum 3‑year driver’s abstract; criminal record check.
- Assets for Lead Officer: Experience with Shop.AlbertaParks.ca and/or AspiraOne; customer service, cash handling and administration experience; interpersonal communication skills; supervisory experience.
Terms of Employment
- Seasonal contract (May 2026 – September 2026). 40‑hour work week contingent on operational needs.
- Evening and weekend work required; premium paid for shifts.
