Live-In Caregiver Position

We are looking for **two reliable, compassionate, and organized live-in caregivers** to provide full-time care for an 80-year-old stroke patient. Caregivers will work in rotating shifts:

• **Monday to Friday:** Live-in and overnight
• **Saturday to Sunday:** Live-in and overnight

The position is ideal for someone who is caring, patient, clean, organized, and comfortable providing both physical and emotional support. The client is an 80-year-old stroke patient with **right-side paralysis**. She is able to stand with assistance, which makes transfers and lifting more manageable. She currently lives in a 1, 000sq. ft. condo. The home is well maintained and requires only minimal day-to-day housekeeping. The client is organized and social and would benefit from a caregiver who is similarly **organized, clean, attentive, and dependable**. Daily Responsibilities Personal Care & Mobility

• Assist with frequent bathroom trips
• Assist with adult incontinence products as required
• Assist with showering and all personal grooming

* Assist with transfers, including:

• Wheelchair to bed
• Bed to wheelchair
• Wheelchair to bathroom
• Getting in and out of the vehicle
• Other transfers as required

• Encourage and assist with daily exercise and movement
• Taking the client for outdoor walks is considered a strong asset
• Ensure the client is comfortable and safely positioned at bedtime
• The client sleeps in a recliner in the evenings as she is unable to lie completely flat

Meals & Household Duties

• Prepare all meals for the client and caregiver
• The client will participate in meal planning and provide direction regarding how meals are to be prepared
• Complete light housekeeping
• Do laundry as needed
• Pick up groceries as required; the grocery store is within walking distance

Medication & Monitoring

• Assist the client with taking medications as prescribed by her doctor
• Monitor the client for any changes or concerning symptoms
• Communicate with family regarding anything unusual or concerning, including changes in:

• Memory or forgetfulness
• Mobility
• Vision
• Behaviour or mood
• Overall physical condition

Mental & Emotional Support The client recently lost her husband and is experiencing periods of grief and depression. The caregiver should be compassionate and comfortable providing emotional support and companionship, including being patient and supportive during moments of heightened grief. The caregiver is required to provide mental stimulation and enrichment by creating activities that encourage the client to stay engaged, social, and mentally active. Appointments & Transportation

• Assist the client with travelling to and from medical and other appointments
• A driver's licence is **not mandatory**, but is considered a strong asset
• A family vehicle will be available for the caregiver to use when required

Overnight Responsibilities The client frequently sleeps through the night, so overnight care is generally quiet. The caregiver should, however, remain available if assistance is required during the night. Travel Requirement Travel is an important part of the position. The client frequently travels, and the caregiver will be expected to travel with her when required.

• A valid passport is *required*
• Care responsibilities continue while travelling/vacationing with the client
• The caregiver must be comfortable travelling and maintaining the client's regular care routine while away from home

Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is:

• Reliable and responsible
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and personal care
• Comfortable working with an elderly person with limited mobility
• Attentive to changes in the client's physical and emotional condition
• Comfortable providing companionship and emotional support
• Willing to prepare meals and perform light household duties
• Comfortable travelling with the client
• Able to communicate effectively with the client's family
• A driver's licence is an asset but **not required**
• Valid passport is **required**

Schedule Two caregivers are required to cover the following live-in shifts:

• *Caregiver #1:** Monday to Friday: live-in and overnight
• *Caregiver #2:** Saturday to Sunday: live-in and overnight

The two caregivers will work together to provide consistent care and continuity for the client. (Full-Time, Live-In) For morning, day, evening, night (on weekend)
