Director of Specialty and Financial Lines Claims

Elevate your career at Definity in Montreal as the Director of Specialty and Financial Lines Claims. This hybrid position requires legal expertise in managing complex insurance claims. In this position, you'll be responsible for assessing and resolving high-severity claims, including those linked to cyber risks and directors' liabilities. Collaborating with multiple teams, you’ll ensure that claims are handled efficiently, providing outstanding resolution strategies and customer support throughout the process. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive investigations and coverage analyses
- Develop reports illustrating loss trends and coverage concerns
- Coordinate recovery efforts and manage external legal counsel
- Respond to underwriting inquiries with legal research and insights
- Draft and negotiate complex legal documents related to claims
- Juris Doctor (LLB/JD) and active legal practitioner status
- Minimum 3 years of legal or claims handling experience required
- Bilingual in English and French preferred
- Strong skills in legal negotiation and documentation
- Proficient with MS Office applications and technical tools
