Role Overview

Reporting to the Superintendent, Supply Chain Management, the Group Superintendent, Warehousing & Materials Management is accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Trail Operations' warehouse and materials management functions. 

This role provides leadership to the warehouse team and oversees inventory management, materials planning, on-site logistics coordination, critical spares management, surplus asset disposition, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, and Logistics teams to ensure materials are available to support safe and reliable plant operations. 

The Group Superintendent leads a team of unionized employees while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
• Provide leadership for warehouse, inventory, and materials management operations. 
• Ensure inventory accuracy and effective management of critical spares and operating supplies. 
• Develop and manage annual budget, KPIs, and operational performance targets. 
• Lead, coach, and develop warehouse employees. 
• Manage labor relations and administer the collective agreement. 
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, and Logistics teams to assess and solve inventory related issues 
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve service, inventory performance, and cost effectiveness. 
• Oversee on site material transportation, warehousing, receiving, and shipping activities. 
• Ensure compliance with all company, regulatory, and environmental requirements. 

Qualifications

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related discipline. 
• SCMP designation or active progress toward designation. 
• 7+ years of experience in warehousing, logistics, materials management, procurement, or supply chain roles. 
• Experience supervising unionized employees in an industrial environment 
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, warehousing, and supply chain best practices. 
• Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, or similar. 
• Experience in mining, smelting, metals, chemical processing, forestry, or other heavy industrial environments.

Pay Range: CAD $121,000 - $150,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
