This is a hybrid position based out of the CIFAR office located in the MaRs Discovery building. Staff are required to be in the office three days a week, ensuring a balance of in-person collaboration and flexibility.

Purpose of the Position:
The Manager, Design & Digital is responsible for leading the design and digital communications strategy at CIFAR, ensuring all visual materials reflect the organization's brand, vision, and global impact. Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications, this role leads the development of high-quality digital, web, and print collateral that supports CIFAR's strategic goals and enhances stakeholder engagement. The Manager contributes actively to content planning, brings creative leadership to CIFAR's visual storytelling, and plays a key role in organization-wide projects such as website redesigns and flagship publications.
The Manager directly supervises the Multimedia Designer and oversees external creative vendors, ensuring the delivery of polished, consistent, and impactful materials across channels. With expertise in graphic design, project management, and digital marketing, the Manager brings a hands-on approach to executing design projects while also offering strategic guidance to elevate CIFAR's communications efforts across platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development, planning and execution of CIFAR's communication and marketing strategies
- Supervise and collaborate with the Multimedia Designer to manage CIFAR's design and brand portfolio
- Lead the concept-to-delivery process for design projects across print, web, and digital media
- Manage CIFAR's website and intranet communications pages, including maintenance and improvements
- Plan and contribute to major projects such as cifar.ca's web redesign and organizational publications
- Ensure consistent brand identity across all platforms and develop new brand materials and tools
- Analyze key data and digital analytics to optimize design impact and user engagement
- Oversee multimedia asset production, including video and photography
- Source and manage third-party creative vendors (e.g., designers, photographers, videographers)
- Collaborate with internal teams on the design and branding of major communications projects
- Serve as Communications liaison on cross-organizational committees
Qualifications:
Education/Experience required:
- Diploma in Visual Arts, Communications, Business, English, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5-6 years of experience in marketing, web content production, and/or graphic design
- Solid experience in graphic design across print, digital, and branding projects
- Proven project management experience
Core Professional/Technical Knowledge & Skills required for the position:
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) in a Mac environment
- Experience with WordPress or other CMS platforms
- Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, XML, and digital production tools
- Understanding of brand standards and application across multiple platforms
- Familiarity with MailChimp or other digital marketing tools
- Proficiency with Google Analytics and using insights to improve user experience
- Experience with cross-platform design (print, web, video) is an asset

Raison d'être de ce poste:
La ou le gestionnaire, Conception et numérique, est responsable de diriger la stratégie de

Elle contribue activement à la planification des contenus, exerce un leadership créatif en matière de mise en récit visuelle et joue un rôle clé dans des projets menés à l'échelle de l'organisation, comme les refontes du site Web et les publications phares du CIFAR.
La ou le gestionnaire supervise directement la conceptrice multimédia et les fournisseurs
externes de services créatifs, en s'assurant que les supports livrés sont soignés, cohérents et percutants dans tous les canaux de communication. Grâce à son expertise en conception graphique, en gestion de projet et en marketing numérique, cette personne met à profit une approche pratique à l'exécution de projets de conception tout en offrant des conseils stratégiques visant à améliorer les efforts de communication du CIFAR sur l'ensemble des plateformes.
Responsabilités:
- Soutenir l'élaboration, la planification et la mise en uvre des stratégies de communication et de marketing du CIFAR.
- Superviser le travail de la conceptrice multimédia et collaborer avec elle pour gérer le portefeuille de conception et d'image de marque du CIFAR.
- Diriger le processus « du concept à la livraison » pour les projets de conception de documents imprimés, Web et numériques.
- Gérer les pages de communication du site Web et de l'intranet du CIFAR, notamment en effectuant les mises à jour et en apportant des améliorations.
- Planifier des projets majeurs, comme la refonte du site cifar.ca et les publications de l'organisation, ainsi qu'y contribuer.
- Assurer la cohérence de l'identité de la marque sur toutes les plateformes, ainsi que mettre au point de nouveaux supports et outils pour renforcer l'image de marque.
- Étudier les données clés et les données analytiques des canaux numériques afin d'optimiser l'incidence des supports et l'engagement des utilisateurs et utilisatrices.
- Superviser la production d'actifs multimédias, y compris les vidéos et les photos.
- Trouver des fournisseurs tiers de services créatifs (p. ex., des concepteurs, des photographes, des vidéastes) et gérer la relation avec eux.
- Collaborer avec les équipes internes à la conception d'importants projets de communication et à la promotion de l'image de marque qui y est rattachée.
- Assurer la liaison en matière de communication au sein de comités interorganisationnels.
Qualités :
Formation et expérience requises :
- Diplôme en arts visuels, en communication, en administration des affaires, en anglais ou dans une discipline connexe, ou expérience professionnelle équivalente.
- Expérience de cinq à six ans en marketing, en production de contenu Web ou en conception graphique.
- Vaste expérience de la conception graphique, acquise dans le cadre de projets imprimés, numériques et d'image de marque.
- Expérience confirmée en matière de gestion de projets.
Connaissances et compétences professionnelles ou techniques de base :
- Maîtrise avancée d'Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) dans un environnement Mac.
- Expérience avec WordPress ou d'autres plateformes de gestion de contenu.
- Connaissance pratique de HTML5, CSS, XML et d'outils de production numérique.
- Compréhension des normes de la marque et de leur mise en application sur différentes plateformes.
- Connaissance de MailChimp ou d'autres outils de marketing numérique.
