We service cold storage, meat packing, food processing and recreational ice facilities throughout Western Canada.
Startec Refrigeration Service is currently recruiting for a Commercial Refrigeration/HVAC Mechanic to work at our Lethbridge, Alberta location ( 106 Broxburn Blvd, Lethbridge, AB). This role offers the opportunity to further develop expertise in refrigeration system service, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance while contributing to a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

The base pay range for Apprenticeships to Journeyperson’s rates are $26.95 to $59.17 per hour (depending on years of experience and supplemental rates/premiums). Dual ticket premiums may also apply.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE & OPERATIONAL DUTIES (Weighting 60%)
System Maintenance, Repair and Installation
- Installation of welded, threaded, and/or brazed refrigeration piping systems
- Conduct start-ups, inspections, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance for refrigeration/HVAC systems, resolving system issues as needed
- Complete regulatory paperwork regarding refrigerant release, ABSA, CFIA, etc
Problem Resolution
- Troubleshoot refrigeration/HVAC electrical control systems and perform necessary repairs
- Perform all work in compliance with the Quality Control and Health & Safety program
- Take on additional duties as required to support job functions
SERVICE EXCELLENCE (Weighting 40%)
Customer-Focused Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism, competence, and integrity
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of paperwork and reports to facilitate prompt invoicing and support customer and company needs
Teamwork and Safety
- Prioritize workplace safety by adhering to all safety protocols and fostering a secure environment for colleagues and clients
- Collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Apprenticeship or Journeyman certification or equivalent in HVAC refrigeration mechanics
- Basic computer skills required (MS Office Applications)
- Class A Gas Fitting, Electrician/Sheetmetal, and/or Hydronic experience is an asset
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills through on-the-job training
- Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver's Abstract
- Ability to work independently and on-call
- Ability to work out of town. Travel and overnight stays may be required from time to time
