AI developer - data generation

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI Developer - Data Generation based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning to the generation of image-based datasets within the life sciences and pharmaceutical industry. You will develop and refine AI-driven approaches for creating datasets that reproduce the characteristics of real-world domain data. Working as an independent contributor, you will collaborate closely with developers, UI/UX designers, product, business, and architecture teams. The position combines hands-on machine learning development, computer vision, data analysis, and software engineering. You will contribute across the lifecycle of models and datasets, from implementation and evaluation to refinement and production-ready delivery. Success requires technical depth, creativity, adaptability, strong communication, and a genuine interest in learning emerging technologies and techniques. Accountabilities - Independently design, develop, and refine AI and machine learning solutions for generating image-based datasets, with limited day-to-day supervision. - Develop an understanding of domain-specific datasets and their characteristics in order to generate new datasets with comparable properties. - Implement, evaluate, and improve machine learning and deep learning models for image and vision-related applications. - Work with existing codebases and models, identifying opportunities to improve performance, quality, maintainability, and reliability. - Create, manipulate, analyze, and validate datasets originating from multiple sources, including large-scale datasets where applicable. - Apply machine learning techniques to solve practical problems and translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. - Produce clean, reusable, maintainable, and production-ready code. - Communicate project progress, technical findings, challenges, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Prepare and deliver progress updates and presentations to peers, management, and other stakeholders. - Participate in peer reviews, share technical knowledge and ideas, and contribute actively to collaborative problem-solving. - Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across software development, UI/UX, product, business, and architecture. Requirements - Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant engineering, computer science, science, or technical discipline. - 3+ years of industry experience working on multidisciplinary, image-based projects in engineering or science environments. - Strong theoretical and practical experience in machine learning, including experience implementing and evaluating machine learning models. - Demonstrated experience applying deep neural networks to computer vision or other image-based problems. - Experience understanding and translating business team requirements into technical solutions. - Proven experience creating, managing, manipulating, and analyzing datasets, preferably large-scale datasets. - Ability to work with and derive insights from data originating from different sources. - Strong software engineering skills, including the ability to improve existing code and produce clean, reusable, production-ready solutions. - Proficiency in Python and familiarity with deep learning and data science tools and frameworks such as Caffe, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, and scikit-learn. - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. - Collaborative mindset with a willingness to participate in peer reviews, share knowledge, and support team success. - Comfortable working in uncertain and evolving environments while remaining positive, persistent, organized, disciplined, and independent.
