BC Cancer Victoria Radiation Oncology Department is seeking a full-time staff Radiation Oncologist to work within the provincial Radiation Therapy program. The Oncologist will join a current complement of 22 Radiation Oncologists, two General Practitioner in Oncology and two Nurse Practitioner. BC Cancer Victoria is a medium-sized, academic cancer centre, servicing Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands. BC Cancer Victoria has 6 Varian Truebeam linear accelerators, one with high resolution multi-leaf collimation and two 6 degrees of freedom couch, a superficial unit, 2 CT simulators, and a diagnostic CT-PET. We have well-established programs in prostate and gynecologic brachytherapy and a growing stereotactic program that treats almost all anatomic sites. We treat approximately 3,000 patients annually with radiotherapy. Our department also has an active academic program.

The successful applicant will be expected to deliver excellent patient care and be involved in teaching of medical students and residents.

Applicants must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia and must have obtained their Fellowship in Radiation Oncology from the RCPSC or hold an equivalent qualification by the time of appointment. The successful applicant will receive a clinical appointment with the UBC Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Radiation Oncology, and will have privileges through both the Provincial Health Services Authority and our partner health authority, Vancouver Island Health Authority, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.

Successful Candidates Will Have

  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
