ABOUT THE ROLE
Join our dynamic interprofessional rehabilitation team delivering high-intensity, time-limited care to clients with musculoskeletal conditions (e.g., hip/knee replacements, hip fractures, amputations) and/or spinal cord injuries. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Physicians, Occupational/Physiotherapists, Nurses, Social Workers, Dietitians, Speech Language Pathologists, and Spiritual Care Associates, with access to Psychologist referrals as needed.
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is responsible for assessing clients, developing a plan of care, implementing treatments and evaluating outcomes, in consultation with the client and/or other health professionals in accordance with the Standards of Practice, College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). The RPN works as part of an interdisciplinary team. The extent to which the RPN carries out these components of practice is determined by:
- The complexity of the client’s condition including the predictability of the outcome for the client;
- The knowledge, skill, and judgement required to assess for and deal with the risks involved; and
- The resources (human and otherwise) available in the environment for collaboration and/or assistance.

WHAT YOU BRING
Education/Experience:
- Current unrestricted registration with the Ontario College of Nurses (CNO)
- Practical Nursing Diploma from a recognized educational institute
- Must meet the qualifications to practice within the full scope of the RPN
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communication, leadership, critical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to people-centered care
- Computer proficiency, including Word and Windows, email communication and electronic documentation
- Excellent time management skills
- Recent physical assessment and pharmacology courses
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Evidence of continuing professional development experience
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
Assets
- Catheterization trach suctioning wound/skin course would be an asset and/or commitment to complete training/education course as well as for other skill sets required for the unit
- Rehab nursing experience working with clients with musculoskeletal disorders an asset
- Membership in a professional association (i.e. RPNAO) is an asset
Conditions of Employment:
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
