Site: Thames Campus Residence, 1001 Grand Ave, West Chatham, ON

Hours: Monday - Friday 2230-0630

Payrate: $21.76

Site Description:

St. Clair College’s Thames Campus in Chatham-Kent is a friendly, well-maintained learning environment with modern facilities and close community ties. As a security guard, you’ll support a safe, welcoming atmosphere for students and staff in a campus known for small class sizes and hands-on, career-focused programs.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Assist visitors, and employee during crisis and contact the necessary emergency services as needed 
• Ensure that the property is safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly 
• Enthusiastically conduct proactive patrols (exterior and Interior), and be able to address policy breeches, and note facility concerns. 
• Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner as not to create a panic amongst the public 
• Ability to de-escalate a crisis, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including; police, fire and paramedic resources. 
• Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries 
• Ability to provide first aid and medical response when required to any person 
• Maintain positive and constructive relationships with The Client’s staff and external clients by providing timely and accurate support as required. 
• Perform duties and tasks assigned by the Security Leadership team and respond to the directions of the client. 

Prerequisites:   

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario   
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider  
• Valid G Driver's License
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must   
• 1 Year of experience in security is preferred 
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position   
• Legally authorized to work in Canada 

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the certifications with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
